Museums and Galleries
The Collection is an amalgamation of the Usher Gallery and the City and County Museum, with the latter housed in a new, purpose-built building on Danesgate and the gallery positioned nearby. All material from official archaeological excavations in Lincolnshire is ultimately deposited in this ever-increasing display, which currently contains over two million objects. The Collection was one of the four finalists for the 2006 Gulbenkian Prize.
Occupying a listed former barracks, The Museum of Lincolnshire Life celebrates the culture and social history of Lincolnshire and its people from 1750 to the present day. Exhibits include "Flirt II", one of the first tanks developed during World War I by local firm William Foster & Co. of Lincoln.
