The Lawn
The Lawn is a former psychiatric hospital, which now operates as a visitor attraction and event venue. Set in eight acres of grounds adjacent to Lincoln Castle, The Lawn comprises several fine buildings amid a large lawn and gardens. These boast magnificent views over the city from The Lawn’s vantage point on the Lincoln Edge escarpment.
The main attraction is The Sir Joseph Banks Conservatory, a free entry tropical house holding exhibits categorised by Banks' on his voyages with Captain James Cook. The conservatory pond is home to Fish Zilla, the worlds largest Koi.
The main building is now run as a conference centre, while the grounds are a popular green haven and a scene for many summer activities.
The John Dawber walled garden is another popular attribute of The Lawn Visitor Centre. There is also a rose garden and a children's play area.
Previously the Lawn complex housed military regimental museums and a museum about the Roman colony Lindum Colonia.
