Lincoln has two higher education institutions. The older is Bishop Grosseteste University College, whose courses focus on education-related studies and teaching. The larger is the University of Lincoln, whose main campus is based in Brayford Pool area.

Further education courses in Lincoln are provided by Lincoln College, the largest education institution in Lincolnshire with 18,500 students. The city also has an Access To Music branch, situated on Flaxengate.

The city’s schools include The Priory Lincolnshire School of Science and Technology, a comprehensive secondary school built in 1992, and the Saint Peter and Saint Paul Catholic High School. Despite being part of the same Local Education Authority, most the rest of Lincolnshire has retained the grammar school system.
